The intrinsic compliance of soft robots provides safety, a natural adaptation to its environment, allows absorb shocks, and protects them against mechanical impacts. However, literature study shows that the polymers used for their construction are susceptible various types damage, including fatigue, overloads, interfacial debonding, cuts, tears perforations by sharp objects. An economic ecological solution is construct future robotic systems out self-healing polymers, incorporating ability heal damage. This review paper proposes criteria evaluate potential polymer be in applications. Based on these robotics requirements defined performance parameters materials, linked healing properties, different already available critically assessed compared.
